Udaipur Palace Wedding Film

The problem

A 600-guest destination wedding across three venues – a lake-facing haveli for the mehendi, a courtyard for the sangeet, and a jetty-and-boat baraat arriving across Lake Pichola. The client had booked drone coverage at two previous weddings and both times the aircraft had been flown directly over seated guests, which is prohibited and which the venue had since banned.

Udaipur's airspace also sits under Maharana Pratap airport's approach, and the lake segment needed a separate permission.

What we did

Ananya wrote a no-fly overlay for each venue before the booking was confirmed – seated guest areas, the mandap, the buffet lines and the generator compound all marked as exclusion, with lateral standoff positions marked for each planned shot. That document went to the venue and the wedding planner in advance, which is what got the drone ban lifted for the event.

Every guest-facing shot was flown from a standoff with a longer lens rather than from overhead. The baraat sequence – the shot the client cared most about – was flown from over open water alongside the boats, never above them.

Two aircraft ran in rotation so a battery change never cost a ceremony moment, and all four days were cut and graded within a fortnight.

The outcome

The boat baraat sequence ran as the opening ninety seconds of the wedding film and has since become the reference shot Studio Rangoli show to new clients.

No aircraft passed over a guest at any point across four days. The venue has since reinstated drone coverage as permitted, subject to a written no-fly plan of the kind we filed – which is a better outcome for the whole industry than one good film.
